How do I schedule an appointment?
Simple! Head to our contact page and complete the form. We’ll first schedule a free, brief phone consultation to understand your needs and make sure we’re a good fit. If so, then we’ll match you with a therapist and get you all set up for your initial appointment.
Will I need to complete paperwork before my first appointment?
Yes. After you get scheduled for your initial appointment, your therapist will email you a link to your client portal. You’ll have access to your intake forms and consents. These will need to be completed at least 24 hours prior to your first session.
How long is a therapy session?
Typically 45-60 minutes, depending on the type of treatment you and your therapist are working on. Initial appointments are typically 90 minutes. Specialized services such as EMDR sessions can be up to 90 minutes.
How long will therapy take?
This is probably the question we get most frequently, and unfortunately, it’s one we can’t definitively answer. It varies in length for everyone and depends on a variety of factors. Therapy can be a short-term, solution-focused process or a more in-depth process. Some people come to counseling for a few sessions, a few months, or years. Your time and resources are valuable, so your therapist will be checking in with you to ensure goals are being met and progress is being made.
How frequently will I need to attend therapy?
For our RO-DBT program, you’ll attend therapy and skills class weekly for the duration of the program (30 weeks). Other treatments vary depending on your needs. We typically recommend starting with weekly or biweekly sessions to build a firm foundation.
Do you accept insurance?
The Current is in network with United Healthcare. We are considered out of network for all other insurances.
If we are out of network for you, we can provide a detailed receipt for services, also known as a Superbill, upon request. You can submit this to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement for services.
If we are in network for you, it is your responsibility to understand your coverage and benefits. We will assist you in checking your benefits to determine financial responsibility. You will be responsible for your copayment and any portion your insurance does not provide reimbursement for.
Why do you not accept most insurances?
While using insurance benefits is definitely your right, we do not work with most insurance providers simply because it limits access to quality care based on your individual needs. We are able to customize each session to fit your needs, based on your goals and best hopes for therapy, without insurance dictating the process. Working with insurance requires us to provide a mental health diagnosis that becomes part of your permanent medical record, in addition to having your file (including notes, treatment plans, plan of care, etc.) potentially audited so they (the insurance company) can determine your progress and whether they will pay for more sessions. We prefer that you and your therapist work together to determine your progress and need for sessions without input from a managed care organization who only knows you by your member identification number, and often are not trained in mental health treatment.
What are your rates?
Our practice is in network with United Healthcare. We are considered out of network for all other insurances.
Our rates vary depending on clinician and treatment program. Private pay fees are $120 for an initial intake session, $105-120 for recurring individual sessions 45-60 minutes in length (depending on service and clinician), $160 for 90 minute EMDR sessions, $150 per week for the RO-DBT program (includes individual therapy, skills class and coaching).
Most other groups or classes offered also break down to about $50 per group session. These are self pay only and cannot be billed to insurance.
We offer sessions with our master’s or doctoral level clinical interns at a reduced rate of $50 per session.
It is required to keep a credit card on file. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and health savings account cards.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand things come up! Please give your therapist as much notice as possible if you need to cancel your appointment. If you do not show up to your appointment without any notice, you will be charged your therapist’s the full private pay fee for the session. If late cancelations are a repeated occurrence, you will be charged your therapist’s full private pay fee for the canceled sessions. This will be your financial responsibility and cannot be billed to insurance.
